Goodbye, Max
Hi, this is Owen's Mom. I wanted to let Owen's readers know that a wonderful pet owner in Texas had to let her beloved American Bulldog mix, Max, cross the Bridge this morning after he was diagnosed with lesions on his brain.

Mommy winned a contest!
My Mommy winned a contest! She gets a $25 gift card to Buzzy's Bow Wow Meow thru the website of a local radio station, 95.7 Ben FM. She sent in this piktur of me an' her, and a short story 'bout how we came to be together and why I'm such a great doggie.

Mommy reely likes Buzzy's store, because he reely tries to promote doggie and kittie adoptions. He even has a couple of rooms full of little baby kitties for 'doption! And invites homeless doggies to hang out in his store on weekends to find new people.
Buzzy also is helping to edumacate people about pit bulls an' how they're not mean and stuff. Every 3 months or so, he has a seminar on pit bulls, and lots of reely smart peoples to come and talks about them, and sometimes, even one of the doggies from Michael "Con-Vick's" kennels, Hector the Therapy Pit Bull, is there.

PAWS Mutt Strut!
Hi bloggie furends! My Mommy is goin' to steal my bloggie to ask for the support of your owners, but I'll let her 'splain.
Hi! I'm Owen's Mommy. As you know, I strongly support adoption and rescue (and responsible breeding, but that's for another post). I have been volunteering for almost 3 years with the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (aka PAWS), a no-kill, all-breed rescue. Each year, near Halloween, they have their annual Mutt Strut!
This year, on Saturday, October 30, PAWS supporters (and their dogs) will walk 1.5 miles in scenic Franklin D. Roosevelt Park to raise funds and awareness for PAWS' efforts to save Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals.
I have joined Team "I Shih Tzu Not," and I am asking for donations. Anything that you can contribute makes a difference.
If you would prefer, you can also make a donation of an item from the PAWS wish list (scroll to the bottom of the linked page). Please send me an email at NestLMFB{at}gmail dot com to make arrangements.
And I promise that if I receive any donations from posting this request on Owen's website, I will post advance pictures of Carl and Reese in their Mutt Strut/Halloween costumes!

Caturday Bloggie Hop!
It's that time again!

Not much is goin' on. I went to visit Mommy over Labor Day. An' for once, Mommy didn't have to Labor on Labor Day. No doggies needed walking, 'cept me, Carl an' Reese of course.
An' Mommy thinks that long walks are fun, but fer little puppies like me, they're very tiring.
An' Carl wanted to play ALL THE TIME. I was a little stressy when I first got to Mommy's new 'partment, so she kept me separated from Carl and Reese with the baby gate.
Carl didn't unnerstand that I wasn't quite ready to play yet:
But we eventually played and had lots of fun an' we went to a doggie park! Carl loves to go to this park because he can RUN and RUN and RUN until he's almost too tired to walk home again!
Reese was nice to me when we were outsides, but she didn't like me being in "her" apartment. Mommee says that she "guards resources."
An' then on Labor Day, I went back to Gramma's with Daddy.

Gots my ouchies and guess what!
Well, a couple of guess whats. I'm visiting my mommee rite now! She came to get me yesturday. And I only put the car into neutral once! (Mommee would prefer I ride in the backseat, cuz it's safer, but my HUUUUUUGE crate wuz back there, and there wasn't enuf room for little ol' me!)
So, I getted my ouchies (my rabies vacksine and my bordatella vacksine), and the vet weighed me! I loosed weight! I don't weigh 10 pounds anymore (Note from Mom: Owen weighed 105 pounds). No, I dinn't, Mommee. I weighed 10 pounds. (Whatever, Owen. You're delusional.)
So, the vet weighed me, and now I weigh 8.5 pounds! (85 pounds, Owen). Nuh-uh. 8.5 pounds. And I'm 3 months old. (You're three YEARS old.) An' I didn't lose the weight cuz of a sickie. I jus' ate less kibble (grumble grumble) and had less treats (grumble grumble).
So, I am at Mommee's new 'partment. It's smaller than our house. An' Reese and Carl are here. Mommee's frend bringed Reese to a big grassy area to say hello to me before we went back in the house. Reese was actin' all nice and stuffs, but I remember that she wuzn't very nice to me last time, and I was 'fraid of her. So, we went back to the 'partment, and I stayed in a bedroom wif Mommee, and Carl an' Reese stayed in the living room part.
In the morning, we ALL taked a walk together (Mommee's friend helped). Carl was VERY excited to see me and kep' trying to jump all over me and sniff me.
So, I'm here until Monday. I will keep updatin' if anything intresting happens.

Ouchie time
Daddee sez I need something called "shots" soon. In Pencilvania, all doggies are required to be vaccinated for rabies. I also gets Bordatella because I go to the doggie park a lot.
But did you know that the Doggie Doctors have been studying vaccines and some of them aren't necessary anymore? Most doggies used to get a shot for "coronavirus" (I've never taysted a Coronoa, cuz Daddee sez alcohol izn't for puppies - I dunno why they need to give me an ouchie against it, too).
And a group called the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sez that you only need to get the other ouchies every 3 years -- which sounds reely good to me!
Here's moar stuff on da web 'bout ouchies:

All About My Mommy and Daddy!
Hi bloggie frends! I heard on Honey the Great Dane's blog that a puppy called "Oskar the Mini Schnauzer" was having an "All About Your Humans Day" and I wanted to tell you all about my Mommy and Daddy, since you all know about me (an' a little about Reese and Carl). I'll tell you about them separately, since they do not live together anymore.

My Mommy lives in a place called Phillydelphia, in a state called Pencilvania. She has lived in this city her whole life. Here is a picture of my Mommy and Reese:
My Mommy is ancient (30 years old), and is what's called a Dog Walker. For monies, she goes to other people's houses and walks their doggies while they are at work! She also takes care of kitties. Mommy also studied Grafic Desine and Baking at two separate schools, so she could do those jobs for monies, too.
When Mommy is not walking doggies or doing Grafic Desine or Baking, she likes to take pichers, do crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and bake stuff, but not for monies.
Now, befur I was born, Mommy had a very bad sickie what is called "Cushing's Disease." Something extra was growing on her pituitary gland, and she almost died! And I'm not exaggerating. She gained lots of weight, and was depressed, and couldn't sleep, and got blood clots in her lungs. But her doctors finally got that something extra off of her pituitary gland, and now that sickie has gone away, but Mommy will never be 100% all better. Like, she can't run with me (not that I like to run anyway), and sometimes when she's very stressy, either physically or mentally, she has to take medicine.
Did you know that doggies (and horsies!) can get Cushing's Disease, too?
OK, so Daddy (and me!) live in a town that is kinda north and kinda west of Phillydelphia what is called "Lansdale." That's where Daddy grew up with Gramma and Grampa. Daddy does somefing where he answers people's questions about their health insurance and makes sure they doesn't have to pay extra monies if they doesn't have to. Or somefing.
Sometimes, when Daddy is not working, he likes to play this game wif his friends. They take fake guns what look like bazookas and shoot PAINT at each other! How silly! And they do this all day long. OK, Daddy says they don't look like bazookas (ok, not all of dem), but I'm just a puppy, and I don't have opposable thumbs, so I can shoot ANY kind of gun.
Oh, and here's me and Daddy:
Yeah, I'm jus' being a little silly.

Happy "Fur"th of July!
Happy Birfday, America! "Land of the free noms, home of the brave nom hunters"
To celebrate America's birfday, I'm playing the "Fourth of July Name Game," which I saw on Samantha's bloggie.

To play, I has to tell you how I gots my name!
Aktually, it's not all that interesting. My mommy and daddy getted me from a guy who didn't take care of me very well. When they bought his house, they 'dopted me. Since eberybuddy in the neighborhood alreddy knew who I wuz, they decided to keep my name.
OK, Reese's turn.
Hi! I'm Reese! It's my very first turn "guest blogging"! When I was brought into the shelter in New Jersey, they named me Reese because I was dark and light shades of brown, and they thought I looked like a smooshed-up Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. OK, Carl's turn!
Hi I'm Carl nice to meet you the people at the shelter named me Carl when I was turned in as a stray and that's it K bye!

I'z home again
I went back to Gramma's on Sunday. Daddee comed to get me. But before he did, me and Carl played Chase one last time. It was crazier than evar! Instead of jus' chasin' each other around the table in the Eating Room, Carl ran down to the basement, we ran 'round the pool table, ran up the stairs to the Eating Room, ran up the stairs to the Sleeping Rooms, then ran back down to the Eating Room, ran around the table, ran down to the basement, back up the stairs . . .
Mommee said she wuz tired jus' watchin' us.
I will try to update more often. Daddee says I needs my nails clipped. I don't like the sound of that.

I'z one tired puppee
Yesturday waz a VERY. LONG. DAY.
Furst, mommee took me to a Pet Fair. She sez it wuz the biggest 'doption event in Phillydelphia's history. It was organized by a group of peepel who are trying to make Phillydelphia a "no-kill" city, which would meen that no doggies would be sent Over the Rainbow jus 'cuz there wuzn't enuff room for them at the shelter. These peepel spread the message of spay/neuter, adoption, and "responsible dog ownership" (which means not makin' your doggie live outside, and givin' him his shots (ouchie!), and makin' sure he's trained an' stuff).
Anyway, it wuz kinda hot, and there were SO MANY peepel and doggies there that I wuz uncomfortable, so Mommee taked me home again, and just let me take a nap in the bedroom.
Then, we went to my cuzin Dakota's house! Would you beleev that he's bigger than me?! (I meen, of course, he's bigger than me, cuz I'm just a little 1o-pound puppee). He wuz very excited to see me. I wuz a little nervous cuz he was SO BIG, but we did play chase in Dakota's yard, but I wuz more interested in the food smells! They had the Cheezburger Machine going! Then we went inside and watched the hockee game. Everybuddy was yelling an' stuff but it was happy yelling, cuz our team won!
Then we went home again, and I got my dinner kibbles (yum yum yum), and I got a Kong(!), cuz Mommee had to go owt again, but this time I couldn't go, but I was happy about that, cuz that was a LONG DAY, and I wuz a tired puppee.

Vay-kay-shun!
I's vay-kay-shuning at my mommee's! Mommee came to get me on Friday. When we got to the house, I got to meet the foster doggie, Carl, and Reese. Except, Reese wuzn't too happee to see me. I wuz reely nervus for a coupla days that she was gonna bite me again. The foster doggie wanted to play with me, but Reese din't like that either, and when I get nervus, I get humpy. So, we're all staying on our leashes. Sometimes, Mommee separates us into different rooms to give us breaks from each other, and sometimes Reese goes into the Kitchen Prison while me and Carl play. Carl gets to run around like a crazee puppee, and Mommee keeps me on my leash and pulls me off if my humpiness comes back.
Today I got a great surprize! Mommee had an empty jar that had peenut butter in it, and I got to licks it cleen!

Anudder foster doggie
Did I mention that Mommee getted anudder foster doggie? Yeah. His name is Carl. I haven't met him yet, but Reese seems to like him, an' since she's very picky about the doggies she likes, that mus' mean he's a nice doggie, and isn't going to try an' eat her like Kieran did.
He's a pit bull mix, Mommee sez mebbeh mixed with Dalmatian? He's kinda spotty. He's about a year old, and Mommee sez he's very "puppy-ish." Well, Duh!, Mommee, he's a puppy!
Mommee sez he likes to play an' play an' play, all day long! Sometimes Reese snaps at him an' sez GO AWAY cuz she's older and grumpier and duzn't like to play all day long.

Duzn't it kinda look like his eyes is looking in two different directions?

He's gettin' eated by the cowch!

The delusion continues . . .
Well, to quote one of my favorite blogging doggies, Dozer, "Mummy has loosed her mind!"
Mommee keeps sayin' I's 3 years old. I keeps telling her that I'm 3 MONTHS old! Well, she was reading one of our favorite blogs, by Honey the Great Dane, and she has a "dog age calculator." (It's from Pedigree, which Mommee duzn't like, but just ignore that part)
Now Mommee thinks I's 24 YEARS OLD!
Mommee, you needs to see a psy- . . . psychia- . . . you needs your head examined.
Oh, and Happy Birthday, Hsin-Yi! (That's Honey's human)

I iz a party dog!
On Caturday night, Mommee had a party to celebrate being ancient. I tried to be a helper doggie in the morning, cleaning the house, but I mostly just whined when I couldn't be in the kitchen wif Mommee.
Then I tasted the cake balls, to make sure they wasn't poisunus. And I told Mommee I had to test the rolls for the meetball sammiches, but she said No.
Then I supervized the assembly of the table for playing games.
An' would you beleev it? All of Mommee's frends were under the same delusion she was! They said I was HUGE! An' I said, No, I just a little puppeh.
Here's me an' Mommee.

See how little I am?
